Here are the top stories today in Roanoke: After a 40-year-long journey, a Roanoke College professor has finally gotten the chance to compete on "Jeopardy!" and is moving to the next round. Dr. Gary Hollis has been teaching at the college since 1995. He says he watched "Jeopardy!" from the time he was a kid and has been trying for decades to get on the show. Finally, he got a call in October and was flown to Los Angeles for taping. (WSLS 10) The Southwest Virginia Ballet will feature a canine cameo in this year's performance of "The Nutcracker." Luna was found abandoned, tied to a pole last month. Animal Control took her to Angels of Assisi, where she received hospitalization, veterinary care, and TLC. The animal care agency says she is doing much better and is on the road to recovery. (WDBJ7) This past Thursday, nearly 1,000 pounds of venison was donated to the Christian Soldiers Food Pantry in Roanoke. (WDBJ7)The American Red Cross chapter serving the Roanoke Valley is getting a new vehicle to transport blood throughout the community, thanks to inspiration from Lionberger Construction.
