LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A driver died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 15 in Loudoun County on Thursday morning, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office announced. The driver has not been publicly identified as authorities work to notify their next of kin. The crash occurred around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, police said. At that time, Loudoun County deputies responded to Route 15 at Sugarloaf View Lane. Before the crash, the driver was travelling southbound on Route 15. At some point, the driver lost control and the vehicle entered the northbound lanes before leaving the roadway, the sheriff's office noted. Authorities did not know what caused the driver to lose control. After it left the roadway, the vehicle struck a utility poll and rolled over, police said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said that the crash is still under investigation. On Thursday, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office also announced that an 87-year-old man had died due to complications from injuries he suffered in a car crash on Route 28 in November. Police identified the man as Daniel Dearborn, Jr. of Ashburn. On Nov. 6, Dearborn was driving northbound on Route 28 near Waxpool Road. As he was driving, he struck a guardrail. The sheriff's office was not sure what caused him to lose control of the vehicle. After striking the guardrail, the vehicle crossed all four lanes of traffic and crashed into a concrete barrier, police said. The driver, who was later identified as Dearborn, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. He died on Dec. 3, police said. Have a story idea?
