GROTON, CT — There was an additional police presence at Fitch High School in Groton Thursday, according to a statement from school officials. The response was after an "unauthorized person" on schoolgrounds Wednesday. Principal Ted Keleher said the following in a post on the Town of Groton Police Department's Facebook page: "After yesterday's events we understand that there is a lot of rumors about what occurred. There was an unauthorized person on schoolgrounds. However, at no time was there a threat against the school or any risk to students. All student were and continue to be safe. In an abundance of caution we will have an increased police presence at FHS today. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to our school community. We remain committed to the safety of our school community at all times."
