Here are the top stories in Burlington today: According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' November jobs report, unemployment rates in the Burlington area continue to be lower than they were at the start of the pandemic. The Chittenden County unemployment rate was 1.4 percent in October, down from 1.6 percent in September. That also reflected some improvement from October 2020, when the unemployment rate stood at 2.5 percent. (Burlington Patch)Dreaming of a white Christmas in Burlington? It might have to wait: long-range forecasts show warmer temperatures are on the horizon, meaning any chances for snow are unlikely in the near future. Data for the next six days to two weeks shows high temperatures could consistently climb into the low 40s. The warm stretch comes in the initial weeks after many ski resorts across the region opened their lifts to the public, with crews still working to produce snow in the hopes of opening additional trails.
