SECAUCUS, NJ — In a traffic stop late Wednesday night, Secaucus Police say yet again they found a car that was reported to be stolen out of another municipality.
At 12:19 a.m. Thursday, Secaucus Police Officer Matthew Garzone observed a 2011 Subaru Legacy on a Rt. 3 East service road. Officer Garzone randomly checked the Texas temporary registration and discovered that the car was reported stolen out of New York City.
The officer followed the car and pulled it over on Columbia Avenue in North Bergen. The driver, Brayan Donosoyanez, 27, of the Bronx was charged with receiving stolen property [2C:20-7]. He was also found to be wanted on an active warrant out of Woodbridge, NJ with a $1,000 bail.
This comes after two cars stopped in routine traffic stops in November turned out to be stolen, as previously reported by the Secaucus Patch.
So far, the cars have been reported stolen out of New York City and East Rutherford. However, two carjackings took place in Montclair last week: One of the carjackings involved a gun. The second took place in a resident's driveway, Montclair Police said. Montclair Sees 2 Carjackings In 1 Week, Police Say
"I hold true to my previous statement: In response to an increase in motor vehicle thefts statewide, Secaucus Police officers will remain vigilant and proactively patrol our town in an attempt to combat this ongoing problem," Chief Dennis Miller said. "I commend the police officers involved in this arrest and I thank the North Bergen Police Department for their assistance."
Donosoyanez was lodged in the Hudson County Jail.
