Description

Press release from City of Fort Worth: December 09, 2021 In the fall of 2019, the City Council adopted a resolution supporting Vision Zero, a strategy to reduce traffic crashes that result in fatalities and serious injuries. Since then, the Transportation & Public Works Department has analyzed five years of crash data, including over 88,000 crashes that occurred from 2015-2019, to identify the Vision Zero High-Injury Network priority locations. City staff has also identified the Top 10 Vehicle, Bicycle and Pedestrian High-Injury Network locations to prioritize resources and implemented a Vision Zero School Maintenance Program where existing signs and markings are updated to Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards and flashers are regularly maintained. View the Top 10 Vehicle, Pedestrian and Bicycle High-Injury Network locations.  This summer, roadway safety assessments for eight High-Injury Network locations were conducted. Roadway safety assessments included a review of fatal and serious injury crashes for each location coupled with a walking audit to document existing conditions and identify potential infrastructure improvements. The data-driven safety recommendations generated from these roadway safety assessments will guide programming for future maintenance and capital projects. Short-, mid- and long-term recommendations for the eight locations will be finalized by January 2022.     Get articles like this in your inbox.
