Before you catch up on that, here's everything you need to know to kick off your day and weekend. First, today's weather: Very warm with periods of sun. High: 84 Low: 54. Weekend forecast: Record heat will prevail on Friday ahead of a cold front that is expected to arrive Friday night. A few isolated showers or storms may form along the front across the eastern sections of South Central Texas but significant rainfall is not expected. Cooler and drier air will move into the area on Saturday along with north winds and breezy conditions. Cooler temperatures in the 50s and 60s will prevail over the weekend with some possible brief freezing temperatures early Sunday morning. Here are the top stories today in Austin: The Travis County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating a homicide in South Austin after a woman was found dead in a home Thursday. (KVUE.com) Travis County has purchased more than 3,000 acres of land surrounding Hamilton Pool to prevent land developers from building around the popular summer destination. Here's what we know.
