SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Shark sightings do occur from time to time in Santa Cruz County. But it is, perhaps, a bit strange to see one on the Cabrillo Highway.
The California Highway Patrol received a fishy report this week when a commuter near Surf City called in to report a "live shark" on the freeway.
CHP headed to Capitola and found the culprit near the exit for Bay Avenue and Porter Street: a plastic shark toy.
"CHP located the shark and we're happy to report that no live sharks were injured during the morning commute," the agency said on Twitter.
We're de-fin-itely pleased to hear no sea creatures were harmed here.
