Teen Accused Of Defacing 50 Locations With Graffiti In Naperville

NAPERVILLE, IL — An Aurora teen was arrested Tuesday after police say he drew graffiti on nearly 50 locations throughout Naperville. Marcion Carrington, 18, 0f the 600 block of Station Boulevard, was charged with felony criminal defacement to property in connection with the incidents. Police say Carrington tagged electrical boxes, fences and "numerous buildings" around the city with the word "SMILZ" during the months of September and October, per a news release. Carrington was identified as a suspect via video surveillance images taken near spots that had been defaced. He is accused of being found in possession of "associated tools used for graffiti" in October by local police. In total, the graffiti caused more than $5,000 in damage. Naperville police are asking anyone with information or who has seen similar graffiti to call the Naperville Police Department at 630-420-6665.
