Clackamas CC Offering New Emergency Management Degree Program

OREGON CITY, OR —Clackamas Community College (CCC) has announced a new Emergency Management Professional (EMP), Associates of Applied Science (AAS), degree program. The first term starts Jan. 3, 2022, and is being offered entirely online. Registration for the first term closes Dec. 15. "The program is for anyone interested in helping to build a culture of preparedness and ready communities for catastrophic disasters," said materials about the program. "(Classes are) taught by highly qualified instructors who continue to be engaged in different facets of incident management "The program is designed to provide meaningful learning opportunities for current emergency management professionals as well as foundational skills for those just getting started." Representatives of the program said they are aiming to make the degree attainable for anyone who is interested, and students are allowed take the full course load each term, or one class at a time. Courses cost $111 per credit hour. The first term lasts from Jan. 3 to March 19, and its course offerings include: Introduction to Homeland Security and Emergency Management Threat and Hazard Assessment for Emergency Management Professionals Foundations of Emergency Planning According to representatives of the program, CCC originally began teaching Emergency Management courses in 1996 and began offering Wildland Fire and Incident Command Structure (ICS) courses in 2006. These programs have allowed the instructors to hone their skills in the classroom, while continuing to work in and grow their experience and knowledge in their respective fields of expertise, the school said.
