BURR RIDGE, IL — A man arrested in a Burr Ridge carjacking earlier this week has been released from jail, court records show.
Linwood E. Little, 41, of Chicago, was let go from the Cook County Jail. He paid $2,500, the required 10 percent of his $25,000 bond, according to court records.
According to Burr Ridge police, the carjacking occurred shortly after noon Monday in Burr Ridge's downtown district.
A woman told officers that a man wearing a mask and a hooded sweatshirt approached her while she was in her car, pointed a handgun at her and demanded her car, a 2021 black Nissan Versa, police said. The suspect stole the car and drove away, police said.
Burr Ridge detectives reviewed surveillance video from nearby businesses and identified the car the suspects arrived in — a 2009 Cadillac, the news release said. The car was found a couple of hours later in the 800 block of 68th Street in Chicago, where Little lives, police said.
Little was found, and investigators developed probable cause to arrest him, according to the news release.
Police said Little, who was driving, and a yet-to-be-identified accomplice followed the woman Monday, with the intention of taking the cellphones and accessories the woman was transporting. When the woman took a rest break in Burr Ridge, Little's accomplice got out of the Cadillac and committed the carjacking, police said.
The woman's Nissan Versa was found the next evening in the 2700 block of West Maypole in Chicago, police said.
Little was charged with felony theft.
