Press release from the Cobb County Government: December 9, 2021 We dig our new library building!  Cobb officials scooped dirt from the site where the new Gritters library will be built. The new building will replace the aging facility on Shaw Park Road that was initially constructed in 1973. The $6.8 million renovation project is part of the 2016 SPLOST project list and is bolstered by a nearly $2 million state grant. Those at the ceremony included: Cobb County Commissioners JoAnn Birrell, Jerica Richardson, and Monique Sheffield, the Library Board of Directors, Library Director Helen Poyer, and Public Service Agency Director William Tanks, and County Manager Dr. Jackie McMorris and Georgia Sen.
