Description
Kennel Technician The primary responsibility is to ensure the proper and safe care of all animals in accordance with company policies and procedures. Coordinates and plans daily operation of tasks. Operates independently requiring little to no direct supervision. Cross trained to take over receptionist duties. In addition, the technician maintains a professional bearing, follows proper procedure and maintains a positive attitude. Primary Duties • Cleans the inside and outside of the kennel through power spraying system and maintains cleanliness throughout the day • Cleans and maintains cattery • Maintains visual observation of pets at all times, learns their names and can properly identify them • Talks to the pets, using their names throughout the day and learning their personalities • Washes and rinses dishes, buckets and toys • Feeds, medicates, and gives treats to pets initialing each report. Takes action as needed to resolve problems in eating or eliminations and reviews previous daily reports • Takes dogs out for playtime, scoops the yard after each playtime and notes the time on the playtime services report • Does laundry throughout the day • Uses proper dog handling techniques • Bathes pets in accordance with procedures • Cleans lobby, grooming room and takes out the trash at the end of the day • Gives tours of the kennel • Does minor repairs • Cleans work van • Pick up litter on Beech Lane • Does outside maintenance • Serves in a backup role as a receptionist at the front desk • Other duties assigned Must be able to read and write, lift and carry over 25 pounds, ability to follow instructions and learn new things and work in a team environment Job and Equipment Requirements -Writing -Reading -Lifting and carrying over 25 pounds -Computer -Typing -Bending -Manual dexterity -Standing -Hearing -Walking -Uses power hose cleaning system, washer/dryer, vacuum cleaner, bathing system, bathing dryer and related grooming tools Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required -High school graduate or GED -Good oral communication skills -Previous work experience demonstrating dependability -Previous experience providing animal care (personal or job related) -Self-motivated, independent worker Payment and Benefits of Kennel Technician -Tips given every other week -One week paid vacation (after having worked for one year) -End-of-year Bonus depending on net profit -We cover 50% of Health Insurance costs with CareFirst BlueChoice -We cover 100% of Dental and Eye Insurances
