Description
Cherry Ames needs a live drummer and bassist for shows starting in February. Keys/ synth, baritone guitar, and backing vocals are all huge plusses. Our last EP got some great press and drew comparisons to: swervedriver, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, The Swirlies, Hum and others.
I have a handful of indie singles and EPs out, and have been gigging with Cherry Ames since 2018. Our lineup went its separate ways, and I have shows booked for 2/11 and 2/12 in Baltimore and Lancaster, PA. Gigs are payable in cash (even split and a cut of day of show merch), drink tickets and gratitude. (Not to mention the thrill of making amazing music).
This would be an especially great fit for members of established bands looking for a side outlet, or even semipros looking to pick up an extra project. Rehearsals can be minimal so long as everyone does homework. In the past, I've felt that we were over-rehearsed and rigid, so the goal is to learn the songs at their essence and explore their potential onstage. Improvisation, jamming and stretched arrangements are all welcome. Each show should be a unique experience. The stage set for this next run features original projections and will be pretty trippy.
Open also to a quid pro quo-- you play in my band and I'll play in yours, help you make a record, etc. I'm an experienced bassist in addition to lead guitar and production.
Drummer should have rock-solid meter, as I'm integrating loops into the sound. Big, showy fills are awesome but not required-- think a mix of Nick Mason and Steve Shelly. Bassist should be able to fill a lot of sound and hold things down while the guitars et al go off into space.
