Assist the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail with repairing bumps on the trail between Marina Towers and the power plant bridge. The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be repairing bumps on the trail caused by root heaves to help reduce the risk of crashes. Volunteers may perform some of the following work: Directing trail users safely through the work areaUsing a leaf blower to remove asphalt dustSweepingShoveling broken asphaltShoveling asphalt patchCarrying buckets of asphalt patchTamping asphalt patchWhat to Bring: WaterGloves (We'll have some to borrow)Long sleeves and long pantsSturdy shoes like hiking shoes or bootsWhere to Meet: The work area is on the Mount Vernon Trail between Marina Towers and the power plant bridge in Alexandria. See picture below for walking directions from nearest address.
