Description

Dispatchers will learn de-escalation techniques, mental health conditions, and how to handle initial contact mental health crises. Dispatchers are often the first persons in contact with an individual with a mental health crisis or someone trying to help. Dispatcher-focused CIT training offers specific background, mental health information and de-esclation techniques that better equip the dispatcher to handle the initial contact to help the first responders and callers obtain the desired outcome. This is a two day training. This training will take place on 2/17/2022 and 2/18/2022 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. *Due to funding restraints this course is offered to first responders serving in Orange County, California only. Western Youth Services and NAMI Orange County, in sponsorship by Orange County Health Care Agency, provide mental health crisis intervention training (CIT) to all First Responders in Orange County. We focus our efforts to combine mental health information, and resources with de-escalation and communication tactics to best support first responders coming into contact with mental health crises in our community.
