Troop 42 will take part in a simulated space mission at the Challenger Learning Center. Scouts will work together to complete the mission.
The Challenger Learning Center Space Mission Simulator offers you the next best thing to actual space flight with a Mission Control room designed after NASA Johnson Space Center and an orbiting space station modeled after the laboratory on the International Space Station. Here is a description of our space mission:A team of Scout scientists and Scout engineers are on a daring mission to take an up-close look at Comet Encke as it streaks across the galaxy. The goal is to plot a successful course to Rendezvous with a Comet. First, the team must plot the correct intercept course. Then they must construct and launch a space probe to gather data from the comet. What seems to be a routine exploration, at first, becomes filled with challenges and emergencies. Each obstacle requires everyone to work together as a team to find a solution in order to make the mission successful. There is an activity fee associated with this event. The activity fee will be $20 or $25 per person depending on how many individuals sign up for this event. This event is limited to the first 30 Scouts that sign up.Don't miss this chance to get away for an exciting weekend in February. Spots on the mission are limited so sign up now!
