Alzheimer's 2022: Where We Are and Where We Are Going Alzheimer's Association West Texas Chapter Amarillo, working in collaboration with our partners at Amarillo College, will present the 2022 Education Conference "Alzheimer's 2022: Where We Are and Where We Are Going." This event has a dual focus on current research and community needs assessment. Ginny Funk, MA, Alzheimer's Research Champion, Alzheimer's Association, will address "Advancing the Science: The Latest in Alzheimer's and Dementia Research" which will review the landscape of Alzheimer's and dementia science past, present and future. Local West Texas Researcher, Dr. Arubala Reddy, will present her latest research "Neuromodulation in 3Ds: Depressions, Diabetes and Dementia" which will address inflammation, diabetes and other risk factors. CEUs will be provided for professionals. There will be a Town Hall Forum where community leaders from health care, government, first responders and others will hear from the community on the state of dementia care in the Panhandle, gaps in service, and barriers to access care. Information provided during "Alzheimer's 2022: Where We Are and Where We Are Going" will aid families and professionals who care for individuals with dementia understand the underlying progression of the disease along with possible treatment pathways. Community leaders will come away with an enhanced understanding of the current state of dementia care and what is needed in the Panhandle.
