Press release from Western Kentucky University: December 8, 2021 Members of the WKU Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter will travel to Americus, Georgia, for their Winter Break Trip Dec. 12-18. WKU Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter The WKU group will work with the Fuller Center for Housing for the first time as part of the organization's U.S. Builder Trip program. Millard and Linda Fuller founded Habitat for Humanity in the 1970s in Americus. They left that organization in 2005 and launched the Fuller Center for Housing. "Eradicating substandard housing is a global need, and it does not stop with Habitat. We open our arms to any organizations who are passionate about building and rehabilitating homes for those in need," said WKU senior Mia Sword of Lexington, co-president of the campus chapter. "We are excited to work with the Fuller Center for Housing to gain insight into their process and collaborate with their community members and volunteers." Chapter members participating in the trip include advisor Bryan Reaka, faculty member in WKU's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; Ivy Kadisak of Carol Stream, Illinois, a senior Sociology major; Joshua Maddox of Owensboro, a junior Construction Management major; Rachel Payne of Maysville, a freshman Architectural Sciences major; Danielo Pickett of Bowling Green, a junior Engineering Technology major; William Pond of Cottontown, Tennessee, a junior Construction Management major; Tommy Rhodes of Whitesville, a junior Architectural Sciences and Construction Management major; Autumn Seely of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, a sophomore Human Services major; Juan Tomas of Owensboro, a junior Construction Management major; Kyle Torrence of Bowling Green, a junior Construction Management major; Anna Zoph of Louisville, a junior Construction Management major; and Kevin Zygmunt of Louisville, a sophomore Construction Management major.
