Loving, energetic, and family-oriented man looking for a companion and caregiver in his home. Now filling the following shifts, although more hours are possible for the right fit. *FRIDAY AND SATURDAY 3P-10P & * 3PM-7PM One Day During the Week This man needs someone who is reliable and consistent, considerate, and has a heart for helping other people. He needs someone who will help him improve on his life skills, isn’t afraid to take him on a walk or an outing in public, and someone who is assertive but still kind. This man is active and needs to be supervised constantly. He suffers from Pica, so he will eat things he shouldn’t and needs constant supervision. His tantrums have improved drastically over the last year, however, he still occasionally has them. He needs someone who knows how to deescalate him and remove him from a public environment when this occurs. He will pull at his caregiver’s hair, clothing, and sometimes bite if he is frustrated, you must be able to accept this and deescalate him in a calm manner while ensuring his safety and the safety of others. MOM AND DAD WILL TRAIN YOU AND WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE UNTIL EVERYONE IS COMFORTABLE DOING SO. MOM AND DAD WILL BE IN THE HOUSE DURING YOUR SHIFT. Pay starts at $21/hour. There is room for a raise upon the companion proving their ability to perform the job duties and maintain commitment with the family. **Although experience is preferred, if you have a love for helping those in need- --apply and let’s see where it goes. If you have worked with family members, etc., who have a disability in the past out of the love of your heart- this counts as experience** We are looking for someone to grow with this gentleman and become a valued extended member of this family. This family is loving and patient and will welcome you into their home and work aside you until you are comfortable to work on your own. Job Duties Are inclusive of, but not limited to the following: *Providing help with basic Life Skills *Providing opportunities for outings and social time (walk around the block, trip to target, the park, etc.) *Ability to deescalate individual and remove them from a social setting if needed. *Ability to be open to training from Mom (highly trained in ABA) *Treating the individual with dignity and respect while being attentive to their needs, being a companion, and establishing a positive rapport while being assertive. *Teaching the individual his colors, numbers, and letters * Helping the individual gather his food at mealtime, and with using his utensils **KEEPING HIM SAFE AND HAPPY: ) ** **Aside from being a well-paid job, this is a great experience for anyone already in or pursuing training/ education in the education/ psychology field** IN OREDR TO BE HIRED, APPLICANT: Must be able to pass fingerprinting check and state background check. Must be willing to complete state required and client-centered training requirements as well as ongoing training as needed to optimize client’s service. Must be able to pass a drug test upon hire and any random drug test issued during employment. Must have a safe vehicle, up to date insurance, registration, and valid license with no more than 4 points on your driving record. Must have or must be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification Must be willing to communicate and be a part of a team to enhance the individual’s circle of care. Looking for long-term staff.
