To the post writer: kudos for stepping up and not ignoring the violence unfolding in front of you. What's importat to know though, is that for a woman, leaving an abusive male partner is dangerous and can be lethal. Even a man who wasn't physically violent before can be *life threatening* when faced with a breakup.
So to the woman, or anyone in an abusive relationship: when you leave, don't leave *by yourself*. Please consult with an expert who deals with domestic violence, so you can leave *safely* (call the hotline: 800.799.SAFE (7233) they operate 24/7). I wish you the best.
Some signs that you are in a relationship with an abuser:
He displays obsessive jealousy and control;
You walk on eggshells around him;
Two-faced in his behavior towards you in private vs. public (heaven and hell);
He actively gaslights you;
He has a traumatic past.
No one deserves to be treated this way.
