Woman Rescued From Fox River In St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 62-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was rescued from the Fox River in St. Charles on Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said Wednesday. The woman's car went into the Fox River near the 200 block of North Riverside Avenue at about 12:30 p.m., according to a news release from the city of St. Charles. St. Charles Fire Department. Firefighters found the four-door sedan partially submerged about 25 feet from the river wall. The woman was in the driver's seat, was conscious and did not appear to be injured. Firefighters used a small boat to get to her and bring her to shore, according to the news release. She was treated at the scene and then was transported to Delnor Hospital to be evaluated due to her exposure to the cold water. The St. Charles Police Department is investigating the incident.
