EXETER, NH — Police and state troopers are investigating an accident on Wednesday between a bicyclist and a vehicle. Exeter police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Front and Winter streets around 8 p.m. for a report of a crash. When they arrived, they found a Subaru Impreza and a motorized bicycle had collided. The bicyclist, a man in his late 30s, was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital due to serious injuries. Later, he was transferred to Mass. General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, for further treatment, according to Chief Stephan Poulin of the Exeter Police Department. "(The) preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the Impreza was driving on Front Street and attempting to take a left-hand turn onto Winter Street when the crash occurred," he said. "The driver was uninjured, remained at the scene, and has fully cooperated with the investigation." No charges have been filed. But the serious nature of the accident led Exeter police to request the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit to assist. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Justin Ranauro of the Exeter Police Department at 603-772-1212 or via email at [email protected]. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
