LT's Coach Godinho named Assistant Coach of the Year

Lyons Township High School Sophomore/Junior Varsity 1 Boys Soccer Coach Paul Godinho was recently named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association. Nominations were made and Godinho won the vote in LT's region. His resume was then brought to the state level, where all nominated assistant coaches were presented. Godinho was voted into the final three. Then, all three final nominees were put on a ballot and every coach in the state of Illinois voted. Paul Godinho won that vote. Godinho is scheduled to be recognized at the 2022 United Soccer Coaches convention in Kansas City. LTHS varsity boys soccer head coach Paul Labbato says, "The amount of care and detail Coach Godinho puts into each player is overwhelming. The season revolves around great soccer and bonding. The soccer never suffers as his JV1/Sophomore team has gone undefeated for many years." Labbato added, "Coach Paul Godinho has been doing amazing things to keep players engaged, loving the sport, and being part of a team. He involves the entire support system of each player by having parents/guardians interact with almost everything he does. Coach Godinho understands how little details matter and he makes the entire season an event. His sophomore/JV1 level usually has 30+ players and plays as two teams. Both teams are treated equally and no matter what the individual skill level of the player they get all the benefits!"
