POSITION SUMMARY Under general supervision, assists the Clinical Dietitians in administering the nutritional program for Boulder Community Hospital. Responsible for procedures of patient service in the Diet Office. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training High School diploma preferred. Knowledge, Skill And Ability 1. Knowledge of both administrative and therapeutic diet procedures for optimum operation of hospital dietary services. Some working computer knowledge. 2. Displays sound judgment, initiative, tact and ability to work effectively with all members in a health care team. 3. Excellent phone skills and organizational skills. 4. Basic understanding of diets. Knowledge of food and diabetic substitutions. Experience At least one year successful experience in a healthcare food service setting preferred. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED 1. Diet Cardex. 2. Diet Instruction materials. 3. Computers. 4. Telephone. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 1. Hospital diet office and kitchen. 2. Position involves sitting, standing, stretching, walking and stair climbing. 3. Pulls/pushes loaded tray carts. 4. Routinely lifts 10 pounds and occasionally lifts 25-30 pounds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintains accurate patient records regarding room number, diet order, diagnosis, etc. and accurately up-dates office Cardexs. 2. Insures patients' menus are in compliance with current diet orders. 3. Prepares menus for general and modified diets incorporating patient food preferences, alternate choices and other menu concerns in time for the meal service. 4. Checks the tray line. 5. Conducts quality assurance activities as assigned. 6. Performs all duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision.
