WHEELING, IL — Chicago Executive Airport is one of the busiest in Illinois. It logs more than 80,000 corporate, charter and light recreational aircraft each year. It was announced Thursday the airport owned by the Village of Wheeling and City of Prospect Heights will receive nearly $1.1 million in funding to make upgrades. "Chicago Executive Airport gives corporate travelers and recreational flyers a unique experience to fly into the less crowded suburbs and head into the city," State Senator Julie Morrison (D-Lake Forest) said. "The upgrades made will allow even more people to take advantage of the state-of-the-art facility." The money will used to work on some of its road and parking, according to Morrison. The money granted is part of a $94 million funding project to revitalize both large and small airports across the country. The money allocated to Chicago Executive Airport came from Rebuild Illinois, the bipartisan, multi-regional capital program passed in 2019.
