POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the maintenance and repair of landscape and janitorial equipment and related items.  The primary responsibility is to ensure that all equipment is maintained and repaired properly so it is safe for the user.  Individual will be cross-trained as necessary with vehicle mechanics. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Job Duties:  1.         Must supply tools and tool box. 2.         Repair and maintain commercial mowers, line trimmers, blowers, vacuums (electric and gas), edgers, hedge trimmers, snow blowers, skid loaders, trailers and many other types of equipment.  3.         Emergency road service as directed by supervisor. 4.         Must be able to drive a large 6-wheel crew–cab landscape truck. 5.         Will be required to pass a DOT physical. Non-Essential Job Duties: 6.       Welding and cutting steel for fabrication or repairs. 7.       Forklift operation. 8.       Skid steer operation. 9.       Pull a 14’ or 20’ trailer behind truck. 10.       Drive mini-busses to and from repair area.   EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED.  At least three years experience in mechanical field, equipment repair, or related work.  Experience with individuals with disabilities helpful  Welding, forklift experience helpful. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1.         Must be able to lift 75 pounds, push, pull and carry a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies.  Requires good physical coordination and stamina.  At least 90% of the day is spent standing while working. 2.         Current MD driver’s license.  Must meet agency’s requirements for approved MVA record.     3.         Some work is outdoors year-round, must be willing and able to work occasionally in all weather conditions. 4.         Assigned work is often hazardous and requires use of many types of power equipment.  Including but not limited to equipment lift, air and other power tools, cutting and welding equipment. 5.         Will work around many hazardous materials including but not limited to gasoline, diesel, oil solvents, paints, cleaners and compressed air. 6.         Will be required to work evenings, weekends or holidays as required by work schedule, (including snow removal), or trainings.
