There were thousands and thousands of protestors there, 2-3 hundred fought or engaged in damaging the property. That is comparatively little. ————————- Isn't any amount t of violence too much? One officer killed and dozens more beaten is not "very little" violence. ——————————— WRONG. He was NOT killed, he suffered a STROKE not related directly to the fighting. No officer was killed. Yes, I agree no violence should have occurred as it hurt the Right greatly (or dis you skip that part????) ————————— Millions of dollars in damage caused by insurrectionists is not "very little" violence. ————- A government building like that takes very little to cause a million or 2 in damages. Most of the incursionists were remarkably restrained. Compare that to 1/2 BILLION damage caused by BlmTifa (which is a lie, I’m sure it’s more). ——————-= If an assailant beat Trump with a stick during one of his rallies, would you consider that "very little violence". ——————- If a huge crowd gathered and only 1 person committed violence I would not call that an insurrection. I would call that an assault/treason by the one person. —————— How about rape? If a rapist only rapes one person, is that ok because it was "very little violence". What if a member of the Taliban only kills one American. Is that acceptable because it is "very little violence" ——————— Not sure how to answer this. Last year there were 123,000 rapes, 22,000 murders in the USA, so yes 1 seems like very little. The scale of violence is comparative—depends what your standard or comparison is. Obviously not OK. ——————— Beyond the physical violence and millions of dollars in damage caused by Trump vandals, we should all be alarmed by the INTENT of the insurrection. No person or group should ever be allowed to try to interfere with our democracy. America was founded on our democracy. Our system is not perfect, but our democratic process must be protected at all costs. ————————- That’s almost my entire point. What WAS their intent??? They had captured the capitol, they obviously didn’t want to overthrow the government or they would have held it or at the least burned it down. THEY LEFT OF THEIR OWN ACCORD. Their intent was to PROTEST. Maybe not all of them but a great majority. They took no hostages killed no politicians how was their intent insurrection???? Again. ————————— If Arabs did what the American insurrectionists did to our capitol on jan 6th, EVERY American would agree that this was an act of terrorism. EVERY American would be outraged. Just because the insurrectionists were Americans does not give them a pass. Home grown terrorists are STILL terrorists. This is why our federal courts are handing out 3 year prison sentences to insurrectionists. —————— No if they were foreign that would be an act of war. I’m not sure they would have been treated any differently if they were Arab Americans. You say that’s why our courts are handing out 3 yr prison sentences.
