Children twelve and older are welcome to attend. Infants are allowed only in front-worn carriers. Strollers are not permitted in the tour houses. Thank you for understanding! About the Georgetown House Tour: For over 85 years, St. John’s Episcopal Church has organized and hosted the Georgetown House Tour to raise funds for ministry and outreach. The Georgetown House Tour is believed to be the oldest such house tour in the nation. The first Georgetown House Tour in 1931 was planned by the  parish to raise funds as the Great Depression began to grip the area. It also coincided with a period of local history, when many of the residences, which had grown shabby over the decades, were being renovated and refurbished to their previous elegance.Tickets were $1 and the first house tour raised $350. By the mid-1930s, it had grown to a huge undertaking for the parish, requiring efforts from nearly all members. It remains an enormous task. Today, more than 300 dedicated volunteers from the community, including organizations like the Junior League, come together each year to make this event a success. We love to welcome others to St. John's! We are a historic parish with our roots in our ancient traditions, but what we do feels fresh and relevant. We worship together in our beautiful space, we care for the poor and the lonely, we work for justice and peace, and we educate and inspire people in our community and beyond.
