Description
A special lecture and cocktail party to celebrate Alexander Hamilton's connections with Massachusetts Join Lexington Historical Society and The Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society for a joint fundraiser celebrating Hamilton's birthday and his connections with Massachusetts. Cocktails and cake will be served! This event is in honor and remembrance of Rand Scholet. From almost the moment that he set foot on the North American mainland to the day that he died, Alexander Hamilton was deeply involved in establishing the foundations of his adopted country and strengthening its union. Likewise, throughout his life, Hamilton had close ties with Massachusetts and many of its leading statesmen, politicians, and soldiers. He played a key role in the Revolutionary War as aide-de-camp to General George Washington. Later, he was instrumental in convening the Constitutional Convention and getting the Constitution ratified. As the first US Treasury Secretary, he stabilized the country’s finances and set it on the road to prosperity. Hamilton also advocated principles often diametrically opposed to those of Thomas Jefferson. This presentation will examine the life of Hamilton and his connections with Massachusetts, from the Revolutionary War to the Ratification of the Constitution and the battles between the newly evolving political parties. About the Speaker Dr. Tom Oller is a founding member and Vice Chair of the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society (the AHA Society), which celebrated its 10 th anniversary in 2021.
