Mary D. Is celebrating her 94th birthday! To celebrate we’re throwing a dinner (to-go), complete with a birthday cupcake, December 16th Choose a main dish of pasta and meatballs, pasta with marinara sauce or a meatball grinder. Each meal will be accompanied by a Caesar salad and a birthday cupcake. Pick up is on Thursday, December 16th from 4:00-6:00 at the 1661 Inn. If you would like to reserve a dinner and pay by cash or check when you get there, please email Molly O’Neill at [email protected] to indicate your choices/quantity. If you would like to make a donation to the Mary D. Fund, please mail it to PO Box 323, Block Island, RI 02807 Proceeds from the dinner will keep our community warm and cozy this winter, providing warm clothing for those in need, heating oil for the elderly and to ensure our community members are adequately sheltered during the windy winter months. If you are not able to attend the dinner but would like to send Mary Donnelly a birthday card you may mail it to Mary Donnelly, PO Box #323, Block Island, RI 02807 For over 45 years the Mary D. Fund has helped community members in need. In the last year the Mary D. Fund has partnered with the New Shoreham Police Department to keep the island community safe by funding the orange vest program to keep hikers (and glass float seekers) visible during hunting season and provided gift certificates from the Ice Cream Place for children wearing their bike helmets and community members receiving their Covid vaccines. The fund provided grants to the Block Island Fire Department and the Block Island Medical Center for Covid related expenses and improved training. As Mary D. always says “YOU are the Mary D. Fund.
