Press release from Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce: 2021-12-07 Dear Stakeholder, If you'd like to learn about the FWC's proposed rule amendments to the statewide alligator harvest program, please make plans to attend the Microsoft Teams webinar on Wednesday, Dec. 8. If you can't attend that one, mark your calendar for a second Microsoft Teams webinar on Jan. 4, which will feature the same content as the first one. See below for details about when and how to join. The webinars will feature a short presentation about proposed rules that would increase hunting hours during the statewide alligator harvest from the current 17 hours a day to 24 hours a day on most areas and add airbows (with an arrow tethered to the airbow) as a legal method of take. If approved, 24-hour hunting and use of airbows would be effective for the 2022 statewide alligator harvest season. Those attending the webinar also will have an opportunity to ask questions. How to Learn More and Provide Input Find more information about proposed rule amendments to the statewide alligator harvest program. In addition to the proposed rule changes, the FWC is also seeking feedback via the same online commenting tool on concepts we may consider in the future such as: • Using a preference point system for awarding permits in the Phase 1 random drawing • Replacing county-wide alligator hunting permits with region-wide permits (a grouping of counties).
