NEW YORK CITY — Between the closest location to get tested for the coronavirus to the best place to get a pedicure or a tattoo, Google searches done by New Yorkers in 2021 were as varied as the people who live here. And while the Internet searches run by those who live in New York City were somewhat similar to those run by those who live upstate and in other locations around New York, the state's residents also proved to be looking for a number of interesting recipes to help get them through their pandemic blues. Spoiler alert: People here really like their stuffed peppers. Google on Wednesday announced its Top 10 top trending topics for 2021 when mask mandates and proof of vaccination requirements reminded New Yorkers that COVID-19 is still a part of everyday life. In fact, searches done to find the closest location to get the COVID-19 vaccines and where to get tested for COVID-19 ranked first and second, respectively, on both the lists for New York City and New York State. The data was released as part of Google's 21st annual Year in Search campaign which was conducted for 27 other cities and 11 other states.
