NEW YORK CITY — There is plenty of fun to be found here in New York City, which ranked as the 10th best place in the country to find a good time, according to a new study. But with entertainment comes a price. New York City ranked as the most expensive place to find entertainment, the study compiled by Wallet.com shows. The organization compiled its national rankings based on several factors including entertainment and recreation options, nightlife and parties and cost. New York finished with an overall score of 49.97 and finished behind Las Vegas (71.04), Orlando, Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans, San Francisco, Austin, Texas, Chicago and Honolulu. The city ranked fifth overall in entertainment and recreation and 11th in nightlife and parties, but the cost factor also affected its overall score. The study, which included 182 cities, showed that New York ranked 182nd in terms of affordability with Pearl City, Hawaii, Boston and San Francisco finishing in the spots just above New York, according to data. The price component included the costs of event tickets, beverages, restaurant meals, movie ticket prices, fitness club fees, hotel rates and the cost of living. New York ranked the highest in the category of attractions and entertainment, which also took into consideration the number of coffee shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors, spas and theaters per capita were available for residents and visitors to enjoy.
