Monday, 04/4, 04/11, 04/18, 04/25, 5:30-6:30pm, Teen Room: Colleen Godfrey from the Michigan School and Government Credit Union will teach a series of courses that inform teenagers on what they should know about finances related to their careers as they start to enter the job market. The topics for each week are as follows:
4/4: Acing the Job Interview: How to prepare, what to wear, and tips to feel more confident responding to the types of questions you may be asked.
4/11: Income Essentials: Explains the connection between 4 interconnected factors: Career, Education, Skills and Trends.
4/18: Let’s Talk Taxes: Introduces basic taxation concepts through the lens of paycheck deductions. Learn about gross pay, net pay, and standard paycheck withholdings.
4/25: Pay Yourself First: “Paying yourself first” is an effective strategy that can be applied to everything from emergency funds to retirement savings. Learn a simple but powerful behavior to help prioritize savings goals.
