Press release from the City and County of Broomfield: December 8, 2021 December 8, 2021 IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING AN EXTENSION IN THE PAUSE IN BROOMFIELD'S MARIJUANA LICENSING PROCESS On October 7, 2021, the City and County of Broomfield temporarily paused its marijuana licensing process for sixty (60) days in order for staff to reassess the submission of applications from differently owned but affiliated entities. During this time, staff considered administrative regulations to clarify this issue and decided to submit a proposed amendment for Council's consideration to make changes directly to the marijuana licensing provisions in the Broomfield Municipal Code, originally approved by Council on March 16, 2021. Therefore, a proposed amendment regarding affiliated entities and application submissions will be presented to City Council as Ordinance No. 2170 on December 14, 2021 for first reading and, if approved, will be set for public hearing and second reading on January 11, 2022. If approved, the amendment will be effective seven days following publication. Further, if approved, any submitted applicants that do not meet the new requirements will be rejected and their application fee refunded. To provide City Council with sufficient time to consider Ordinance No. 2170, the City and County of Broomfield will be extending the pause in the marijuana licensing process to January 24, 2022. Any dates previously scheduled in the licensing process will be rescheduled and a new schedule will be shared directly with each applicant and posted on the website. While no further comments will be made on the pending litigation, questions regarding this pause should be directed to [email protected]. Public comment on proposed Ordinance No. 2170 can be submitted by emailing [email protected] for Council's review no later than noon on Monday prior to the meeting date to be part of the official meeting record or in person at the initial meeting on December 14, 2021 or at the public hearing on January 11, 2022.
