Hey Burlington: As you may know, Amazon Web Services experienced an outage on Tuesday that affected the Burlington Daily. Here are the top stories in Burlington today: The results are in for a special election in the City of Burlington, and voters approved one of two major investments that would've totaled a combined $60 million. A $40 million bond vote to invest in infrastructure was approved by 57 percent of voters; however, a two-thirds majority was needed to pass. Meanwhile, 70 percent of voters supported a $20 million bond to support upgrades to the city's electric grid. (Local 22/44 News)The Burlington School Board took up the issue of cancer-causing PCBs at their meeting Tuesday night. This is the first time they've met since the Vermont Department of Health issued new recommendations in mid-November. Burlington Superintendent Tom Flanagan said they still need more information about the new guidance, but students will hopefully be in a new building by August 2025.
