On to the news for Thursday! First, today's weather: Plenty of sun. High: 79 Low: 64. Here are the top stories today in Irving: The Pizza Hut on McArthur looks a little different today. The Irving Fire Department reports that a vehicle drove into the glass façade of the building early Tuesday afternoon. Luckily, officials say the crash caused no serious injuries or structural damage. (Irving Weekly)Grand Prairie's Chief Financial Officer Danielle Whiteway recently discussed how the pandemic has changed the city's budget for 2022. Whiteway reports that usage of recreation facilities and memberships are down, and the city is expecting a possible revenue loss. Grand Prairie is focusing on some economic development measures such as upgrading roads, supporting the local hospital and replacing some playgrounds as City Council tries to keep the budget in check. (My Grand Prairie Now)The US Department Of Labor discovered that an Irving IT company illegally withheld payments from an H-1B visa worker. The agency says that Cigniti Technologies Inc. hired a system analyst under the H-1B visa program and failed to pay the individual wages to which they were entitled, as outlined in the program's application process. The Department of Labor was able to recover $64,244 in unpaid wages for the worker.
