Hey Woonsocket: As you may know, Amazon Web Services experienced an outage on Tuesday that affected the Woonsocket Daily. Some of you might have received a late newsletter on Wednesday, or no newsletter at all. Please know this was unfortunately beyond our control, but know that we are fully back in business! — Kathleen Stoddart First, today's weather: Clouds giving way to some sun. High: 40 Low: 27. Here are the top stories in Woonsocket today: A suspect is still on the loose after leading police through a high-speed 42-mile chase in a stolen vehicle. A Woonsocket police report states the pursuit started after an officer ran the registration of a 2018 White Hyundai Tucson, that was pulled over on the side of the road near the Woonsocket Municipal parking lot. The suspect did not heed the officer and instead, drove off beginning the high-speed chase. There is no further information shared at this time. (WLNE-TV (ABC6)) " Hocus Pocus 2" will continue filming in RI until Christmas. Friday evening through Saturday morning, it will be filming on Federal Hill. Crews have been building sets around the state since October. (Turn to 10)A strike has been authorized for bus drivers across the state. General Teamsters Local 251 shared on its Facebook page that bus drivers, monitors, and aides are prepared to send a "loud and clear message" to First Student and Durham School Services as they continue their fight for fair wages, benefits, and better working conditions. It is unclear whether employees, not within the union may strike in sympathy. The union has been practicing in Smithfield. (Facebook) Woonsocket Historical Society shares that during the late 1950's, Woonsocket built 3 new elementary schools, Bernon Heights, Citizens Memorial, and Globe Park. As a result of their opening, many neighborhood schools were closed and either torn down or repurposed. (Facebook) Woonsocket Parks & Recreation shares that Basketball Registrations are filling up.
