CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police arrested a Canaan man driving a Mercedes with Massachusetts plates after a chase from the Bow Junction to the Concord Heights on Tuesday. Around 10:30 p.m., a state trooper attempted to stop the car on the northbound side of Interstate 93 just before the intersection with I-89. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and increased the car's speed in an attempt to elude the trooper, according to Sgt. Irwin Malilay of Troop D. "The pursuit continued north until the vehicle exited the interstate off Exit 14," he said. "The vehicle turned onto Loudon Road in Concord heading east. The vehicle drove recklessly at speeds up to 90 mph and passed a red light through an intersection." Malilay said the chase ended "due to the dangers it presented to the public as well as those involved in the pursuit." But not long after, the car was spotted pulling into the parking lot of the McDonald's Restaurant on Loudon Road. The trooper attempted to stop the car again and the driver, Vicente Delarosa, 24, of Canaan, was accused of exiting the car and attempting to flee the area. He was "quickly corralled" by other troopers, Malilay said. A Concord police officer told dispatch about the chase and the dispatcher told the officer troopers were requesting backup, saying they had the driver held at gunpoint, according to scanner chatter. Delarosa was arrested and charged with felony reckless conduct, reckless driving, disobeying a police officer, operating without a valid license, and violation of a traffic control device charges. He was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in Merrimack County Superior Court for arraignment on Jan. 6, 2022.
