Here are the top stories today in Bedford: Antiques Roadshow New Hampshire Episode: Bedford has many historic homes, and many may have hidden treasures! That's a good reason to tune in to new episodes of the popular PBS series Antiques Roadshow on Monday, Jan. 3 at 8 p.m. The multiple Emmy award-winning show recently taped a program in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, at the historic Omni Mount Washington Resort. Last season's shows featured fan favorites and celebrity surprises, noted executive producer Marsha Bemko. This season promises "quintessential Roadshow moments that we all miss and crave," Bemko said. Some of the items featured this season are an antique car and a $100,000 sculpture. (Patch)Bedford High School Makes Top Five: Congratulations Bedford High School! Bedford is ranked in the top five in a list of The 25 Best Public High Schools in New Hampshire. Out of thousands of public schools, Stacker compiled the list using rankings from Niche that evaluated U.S. high schools based on everything from academic excellence and grades to parent and student surveys on overall experiences, teachers, cultural diversity, clubs and activities, health, safety, resources and facilities, and sports. Bedford High School received an A rating, ranking fifth. The number one spot went to Hanover High School, with an A+ rating. Congratulations to the high schools that made the top 25 list this year. Dilemma: COVID-19 cases are at an all-time high in New Hampshire with more active infections than at any time since the pandemic began. Hospitals are nearly full. The New Hampshire House of Representatives, which has 400 members and is one of the world's largest elected bodies, has not met in its chambers in 2021 and has to decide where they will meet. They have previously met in a playing field, the Bedford Sportsplex, where there is better ventilation, and they can socially distance. But some Republican members said they were frustrated with the Sportsplex, saying people couldn't be seen clearly because of the distance and wanted to return to the crowded Representatives Hall next month. Medical doctors who are members of the House said it would be like "rolling out the red carpet" for COVID-19. A decision about a meeting place for the next session has not been finalized.
