Description
Press release from the City of St. Louis:
December 8, 2021
Pickup available at three locations
The City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry is offering free firewood to City of St. Louis residents. City residents can find firewood at three locations:
"Our Forestry and Parks workers work hard to maintain our parks and neighborhoods, and to respond quickly to remove fallen trees," said Greg Hayes, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry. "We are glad City residents get the added benefit of an accessible and sustainable source of firewood as a result of the hard work our City employees put in every day."
All wood comes from the removal of dead or structurally damaged trees from City streets and Parks. Wood is typically dropped off in the afternoon, Monday through Friday when available. Materials will be available at each location through March 2022 on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will vary in size and species at each location. Forestry workers will not be on site to monitor supply, and a daily supply of wood is not guaranteed at these locations.
Commercial vehicles and trailers are strictly prohibited due to park restrictions. Residents are encouraged to contact The Forestry Division at (314) 613-7200 for more information. Parks, Forestry and Refuse also currently have open Utility Worker positions available, for those seeking employment.
