CALIFORNIA — All Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide, including those in the Golden State, will go dark for an entire weekend later this month, a rare occurrence. Chick-fil-A locations typically close Sundays, but this year they will close on Dec. 25 as well to observe Christmas Day. At least 160 stores in California will close for the full Christmas weekend. Locations will reopen on Dec. 27, but operating hours will vary by restaurant, the company said. The founder of Chick-fil-A, the late Truett Cathy, was a devout Baptist. The restaurant chain gives its employees Sundays off to attend church. "Chick-fil-A restaurants will be closed on Christmas Day so our restaurant teams can spend time with family and friends. We will also be closed on Sunday, December 26 – as we are every Sunday — but look forward to serving you when we reopen on Monday, December 27," the popular restaurant chain announced.
