BURR RIDGE, IL — A woman was the victim of a carjacking shortly after noon Monday in Burr Ridge, police said.
The incident took place in the 100 block of Burr Ridge Parkway, which is in the village's downtown shopping district. One of the suspects displayed a gun and stole the woman's car, police said. The victim was unharmed and went to a nearby store to call 911, police said.
Burr Ridge police said they had one suspect in custody, but have not charged the person with a crime.
In a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso said he has just learned that in less than 24 hours, Burr Ridge police found and seized the suspects' vehicle and arrested one of the perpetrators.
"We are confident this arrest will result in apprehending the other perp," the mayor said. "This quick action sends a message: Don't come to Burr Ridge to commit a crime. We will catch you and lock you up."
