Hey, people of Cleveland! It's me again, Danielle Fallon, your host of the Cleveland Daily. First, today's weather: Cloudy and chilly. High: 37 Low: 27. Here are the top stories today in Cleveland: Dozens of Cleveland residents and business owners braved the chilly weather outside on Shaker Square to rally support for proposed legislation intended to stave off foreclosure of the historic shopping district. Nonprofit organization Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc., along with Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, are backing a measure that would allow the city of Cleveland to front $12-million dollars to pay off the mortgage of the Square's financially-troubled owner, The Coral Co. The property would then be transferred to the local nonprofits, which would oversee the development and improvements of Shaker Square. (WKYC)Population growth in Ohio has stagnated — so much that the state lost a congressional seat after the 2020 Census data was collected. Now, one state-level lawmaker wants to reverse that trend by keeping graduates from Ohio schools in the state. Republican Rep. Jon Cross' proposed G.R.O.W. Act would incentivize high school students to consider Ohio schools with scholarship possibilities, as well as offer income tax breaks for graduates who get full-time jobs. (News 5 Cleveland) On the 80-year anniversary of the Dec. 7 attack on Pearl Harbor, Cleveland residents gathered at the USS Cod docked on North Coast Harbor. (Fox 8) The Cleveland Browns announced that cornerback Denzel Ward has been honored as the team's 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year.
