TUCSON, AZ — The Pima Animal Care Center took in 19 cats and two dogs from an overwhelmed caregiver on Wednesday, according to a news release from the center. The animals recovered from the home seem to be in good health, the center said. The center is looking for 50 people who are immediately willing to adopt or foster some of its pets, to make room for the new animals it just took in. "We need to open some kennel spaces for these pets, so we need families who can foster or adopt cats or large dogs,"Monica Dangler, director of animal services, said in the news release. "The shelter is still uncomfortably full for this time of year." As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 652 pets at the shelter who needed foster or adoptive homes, and 1,138 pets currently being fostered that were also in need of forever homes. Those who are unable to foster or adopt can help by donating to Friends of Pima Animal Care Center. The animal care center is open noon-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
