Here are the top stories in Anchorage today: Engine trouble on a cargo plane lead to an emergency landing at Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage on Wednesday morning. The TransNorthern Aviation cargo flight experienced a loss of engine power and came down while landing gear was still up on runway 7 of the downtown airport. According to Alaska Chief of the National Transportation and Safety Board Clint Johnson, no one was injured in the emergency landing of the Douglas DC-3. (Alaska News Source) A man was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault on Tuesday after a shooting that left a teenage girl with severe wounds. Police were called to an area near 14th Avenue and Denali Street at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on a reported shooting, and found the girl had a gunshot wound to her upper body. Odell Branch III was identified as a suspect and taken into police custody about 10 minutes later. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
