Here are the top stories in Mobile today: Unemployment rates in the Mobile area have decreased in recent months, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Mobile County unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in October, down from 4.1 percent in September. That reflected some improvement from October 2020, when the unemployment rate stood at 6.2 percent. By comparison, the national unemployment rate dropped from 4.6 percent to 4.2 percent from October to November. (Mobile Patch) A former employee of a medical staffing company in Mobile admitted she used her position to steal personal information, which she then used to obtain more than $127,000 in fraudulent loans since 2018. Roseanna Taylor, 41, pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy and wire fraud charges on Wednesday. She could face almost five years in prison, although prosecutors may recommend a shorter sentence in exchange for Taylor's help in prosecuting others involved in the scheme.
