This is an orientation for people interested in working with children and families in outdoor nature education in Arlington.
Nature Core Outdoors is an initiative being launched by ARMN and the Arlington Department of Parks and Recreation to form a cadre of outdoor educators interested and willing to carry out outdoor nature activities at various sites in the community, including subsidized housing units, schools, and community centers. This will be the first meeting to discuss opportunities, future trainings, and what each of you bring to this initiative. As a bonus, there will be a short training on how to lead a forest scavenger hunt. There will be other trainings in January and February in preparation for the formation of nature clubs in the Spring and family nature hikes at various community sites. If you cannot be part of the "boots on the ground" crew, there will be other volunteer possibilities described as part of this initiative. Please plan on being there 10 minutes early and bring a mask to wear indoors.
Since this training is during the dinner hour, there will be light refreshments provided.
