Screening of "By Way Of, Houston" - a docu-series on the African Diaspora in Houston. A conversation with the filmmaker will follow. Join us for the screening of By Way Of, Houston - a docu-series on the African Diaspora in Houston. Through an experimental visual format, the series highlights how African immigrants negotiate and understand home & belonging. The series profiles 5 African immigrants: Ayokunle Falomo (poet)Nneka Stefania-Achapu (political strategiest) Chukwunonso Ofili (visual artist) Martins Amune & Anita Okpobiri (entrepreneurs) After the screening, there will be an artist talkback with filmmaker, Loyce Gayo. In-person guests are required to provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID test results (results must be within 48 hours). Masks must be worn during the entire event. The event will also be live-streamed. This project is part of the Houston Arts Alliance Individual Artist Grant and is supported by the Mayor's Office of Culture Affairs.
